Our favorite grandfather, Rich Brooks had given us an early morning update on the UK football schedule, via his Twitter account. "We will have our last day of practice before school starts. Players get the day off tomorrow witch is the first day of classes. Warm up!!" Some creative spelling there for the word "which," but we won't hold that against him. His desire for the weather to warm back up, instead of this fall-like weather we've been experiencing, is apparently so he can give his waterboy some much needed practice before the season begins. Or, maybe, he wants his team to practice in the same kind of heat that will most likely be present for the first half of the schedule, especially the games further south. With classes starting back, practice will be moved to the morning hours, which have been unseasonably cool. Apparently, Papa doesn't want his players (or waterboys) getting soft.
Coach Brooks also said that his staff will spend this week putting together the game plan for their first game, against Miami (OH), on September 5.
