With that said, Pitino leaving to Boston and then ending up in Louisville without having the same success he enjoyed in Lexington has gradually worn away some of his luster over the years. He has proven to be a spin doctor at best, and liar at worst, in his dealings with the media. Viewing him without the blue tinted glasses, it becomes more and more clear that he was never the White Knight that saved the University of Kentucky, rather a hired gun whose insane competitive drive helped him to reach the top. I can live with that, but I am not sure how Pitino will deal with it. I think he reveled in the fact that he was seen as a savior. Now that he has proven to be very human, he is going to have a tough time sharing the spotlight with Calipari (aka the new savior of UK Hoops). I think his days are numbered as an elite coach, and I don't see that ending too well for him or the Cardinals...
And I can live with that too.
Awesome post, i agree with it all(especially the very last line). This whole blog is one of the most well written blogs i have read. keep it up
ReplyDeleteI agree, Matt. I can live with Pitino being knocked off his high horse, as well.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this site is awesome! Love it!
