Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats Preview

Tonight the No. 1 team in the nation will be running on to the field at Commonwealth. Rumors are flying around about the status of Tebow and several other key Florida players as the teams has apparently been hit by the flu. Tebow was not available to any of the media last night and has been reportedly isolated from the rest of the team. I certainly do not wish any of this on the Gators but I am certainly not disappointed that there my may be some distractions to the Gator team. Tonight will take a truly special effort to stay close to this team. The last No. 1 team that came in to Lexington left with a 3-OT loss, but that LSU team was not as fast or talented as this Florida team. Also the 2007 Wildcats were probably more offensively advanced then this year's team. Still, Kentucky has play makers on both sides of the ball. The defense has improved dramatically and there seems to be some optimism that around the nation that this could be a close game. Even Colin Cowherd said that he thought the game would be closer than many. The spread is 21.5 in favor the nation's no. 1 team. I don't know, I just have a feeling the Cats will at the very least cover the spread. It's been a while since Kentucky was in a real fight with one of the SEC's big time teams, maybe since the last time Florida came to town along with the first ever visit of College Gameday. Were not making any predictions here at the BBNR but let's just say we expect to be proud at the end of the night, one way or the other.

  1. I agree, it's going to take an almost perfect game tonight for the Cats' to pull off the upset. But I will make a prediction, Kentucky will not be embarrased, in fact, this game may even stay in single digits. It all comes down to two scenario's. If Kentukcy's defense can live up to their hype and shut down the Florida run game, and limit "Superman's" yards (with his legs), and force Florida to pass the ball to a wide reciever core who is still trying to find an identity, they may have a shot. The other factor, is Kentucky's ability to "keep" the ball on offense and not force Hartline into 3rd and long pass plays; the Cats' need to run the ball successfully and stretch the game out as much as possible.
If Kentucky is able to run the ball and shut down Florida's running attack then they will be in the game til' the end. On that note, here's my prediction. UK: 24 FLA: 21.
In a defensive battle, an "under the weather" Tim Tebow has one of his worst games as a Gator, and Kentucky "rips" down the goal post in celebration of one of the biggest upsets in Kentucky football history. C-ya next week BBNR.

    GO CATS!!!!!
