Cats move to 4-3 with win over Warhawks...

Coach Brooks was concerned with their approach to their match up with the Warhawks tonight. If you watched the second half you can see why. The Cats built a 21-0 lead and led 28-7 at the half, yet the game turned very sloppy in the second half. Still the Cats made big plays when they had to and won the game 36-13.

It's becoming like clock work, Cobb was again brilliant and showed he can really do it all. They could probably play Cobb anywhere and he would still be the best player on the team.

I am not going to read too much into the Cats inconsistent play tonight, as they were still without Hartline, Lindley and playing with a limited Locke. Micah Johnson is banged up again with a knee issue too. There are some growing pains at several positions and it's to be expected that they'll have momentary lapses of mediocrity, especially with a big lead against a non conference opponent. A truer test of where this team is at will be on Halloween night against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs played the Florida Gators tough tonight and will come to Commonwealth next week with plenty of confidence.

More on tonight's win and the upcoming game against the Bulldogs tomorrow, but for now let's enjoy another step closer to bowl eligibility.

  1. One other point, why is the stadium half empty with time left on the clock? I don't care of they were up big against the Warhawks. Bush league, we're better than that!

  2. I'll take a 4-3 record at this point. If we had held on against South Carolina, we could be at 5-2, which would have been even better.

However, a fourth consectutive Bowl appearance looks very likely now.

    Go Big Blue!

  3. no matter how the season turns out, the coaching staff has done everything that can be expected to make UK Football relevant. We are going to have our hands full with the rest of the schedule, but all things considered we should be proud to be 4-3 at this point. There are only a handful of teams that wouldn't have a similar or worse record with the schedule we have plated. Kudos to Rich Brooks and his staff

  4. I agree, major kudos to Brooks. He has really turned this program into a respectable SEC opponent for the rest of the conference. Other than the first quarter against Florida they have been in every SEC game so far. I think every game from here is winnable although that isn't going to happen. Eastern is a W and all they have to do is win one more SEC game to be eligible. MSU is going to be tough but if they find a way to win that one I am going to be excited about the possibilty of a possible 8-4 season (which I predicted).
