What kind of Friday are you?

Today, is Friday, and we're thankful. Just what kind of Friday this day might be is entirely up to you, of course. Being the passionate fan-base that we are, there's a wide range of Fridays for you to pick from. Let me explain...

Good Friday: This is the category I fall into... mainly because I've conditioned myself not to have a knee jerk reaction to negative press, especially since John Calipari was named head coach at UK. There's always going to be the Pat Fordes of the world that don't like him, and they will try to make mountains out of mole hills. Today isn't a "Good Friday" in the religious sense, per se, but it is good for the following two reasons. 1.) Kentucky has another winnable football game on the schedule tomorrow and will take care of business at home. This will put our boys in blue one step closer to a fourth consecutive Bowl appearance, and cementing Coach Rich Brooks's as perhaps the most successful coach in the program's history. 2.) Today is also one step closer to more Kentucky Basketball and the official beginning to the Calipari era. Period.

Friday the 13th: No today isn't the 13th day of the month, but for some Kentucky fans, every day seems to bring bad luck to our beloved program. These fans have been holding their collective breaths for months, and now that the word has gone mainstream about Wall's playing status, that breath has been released in a long, depressing exhale. My dad falls into this category, always sure that things are never quite as good as they seem. I think he became a bad luck fan during the Tubby era, when things never worked out like we had hoped. This mentality was only encouraged by the two year stint with Clyde, a failure of epic proportions. For these fans, they live in the Camp Crystal Lake community of Big Blue Nation, always paranoid of a hockey-masked killer hiding in the bushes, ready to take away all their fun. This year, it seems that Pat Forde is the one in the mask.

Freaky Friday:
A large number of UK fans fall into this category. They await the new day with whatever might come, ready to roll with the punches of bad news while rejoicing in our good fortunes, both in equal proportions. Just as it happened in the movies by the same name, roles can be reversed at any moment and unforeseen problems can appear from no where (the John Wall story or Hartline's injury), but there is always optimistic hope that the day will end happily (an unexpected fourth consecutive Bowl victory or perhaps an 8th National title), just like in the movies.

Black Friday: Just like the day after Thanksgiving that welcomes the official beginning of the Holiday shopping season, this day could be a day of hurried excitement as we await the official beginning of the basketball season. Some are excited for the new hype and attention focused on the UK program, and couldn't careless if rumors abound about our new star player. These fans just love the rush of it all, and will line up in droves for a good deal on anything... especially when it comes to UK.

So what kind of Friday is it for you? I hope a Good Friday. TGIF, baby.
