Cals Cats Wednesday UK News: It's Signing Day...

-Well some noteable players have signed including the mystery post player that I said look for to see if he would sign or not and if he didn't UK would heavily be in the mix and if he did I said I would tell you I was talking about. Perry Jones signs with Baylor...yes Baylor...he is a five star post player and Baylor got in on him early and he wavered and looked around while staying committed but decided to stick with his decision.

-Will Barton signed with Memphis. Some UK fans were hoping he would hold off and eventually fall into UK's lap. What needs to be understood is Barton has a less talented brother riding his coat tail to Memphis and Memphis only gave his brother a scholly to get Will. This wasn't an option at UK.

-CJ Leslie was apparently in attendance at N.C. States signing session...if we don't get Leslie, NC State is likely the destination at this point. Some believe Leslie will be like Wall and not commit until the last second so by then plenty of things could change by then...

-Speaking of NC State Luke Cothran a 4 star did not sign basically believing he can do better and has concerns if their coach will even be there.

-Most UK recruits are expected to wait until spring. I believe the only recrut who is expected to commit this Fall with someone is Tobias Harris who is set to announce his decision Nov. 19th on ESPNU, but he said he doesn't plan on signing till in the Spring.

I don't feel good about Harris because he seems to continue to say that all schools left are equal and he has been to several schools since UK. I think we have as good of a chance as anyone else but if we really are equal then the odds are we are not his choice...hopefully I'm wrong.

-The students had their lottery for tickets last night, with the largest crowd of 6500 showing up...anyone who got some good Long Beach St. tickets from this event and can't make it let me know...

Some UK fans are concerned that North Carolina may get to 2,000 before us...this is why that isn't very likely...

UK currently has 1988 total wins, North Carolina beat FIU last night to give them three behind us at 1985.

They play tomorrow which will put them within two. That seems close but then it all levels out.

Even if North Carolina wins all 16 straight game to get to 2000 which means wins over #2 Michigan St., #3 Texas, #5 Kentucky, and #17 Ohio Stth their chances are still not great...

Their 16th game is against Virginia Tech on 1/10, we play our 16th game on the day before 1/9 against Georgia.

So if they go perfect and we go 12-4 by 1/9 we still beat them. We can lose to North Carolina, UCONN, Louisville and some unranked team and still get it.

If North Carolina loses one game, then we can go 12-5, they lose two games we can go 12-6, etc.

With this regime the odds of North Carolina getting it before us is very remote...
