Will Friday the 13th be unlucky for the Cats?

Most people that know me, know that I worry a little too much sometimes. Sometimes those superstitions proof true, like two weeks ago when Mississippi State rolled into Commonwealth on Halloween night. I had a bad feeling all week and it ended up being for good reason as the Bulldogs handed a very costly loss to the Cats. Now, we stand at the verge of another "spooky" day on our calendar and yet another big game to be played in Lexington. Now don't get me wrong, I am not worried, nor do I have a bad feeling about tonight's game, but there is more than enough reasons to believe that tonight could be closer than many of us would like to believe.

Let's see if we can learn anything by taking a closer look at the Friday the 13th movies...

The young kids at Camp Crystal Lake were having the greatest time of their lives, and making memories that would last a lifetime; just like the guys at Camp Cal are having a blast playing college basketball and making memories that will last a lifetime too. Enter Jason Vorhees, a kid who was disrespected and mainly ignored at Crystal Lake until he returned to Camp for his revenge on, you know the story, Friday the 13th.

At Camp Crystal Lake things were too good to be true, much like they are at Camp Cal right now. Today the real season begins. Is Morehead Jason Vorhees? Who knows, but it certainly could turn true if the Cats aren't ready to play. The Eagles are a very capable team who return several veteran players from an OVC Championship team a year ago. Like Jason, they're mainly ignored as everyone focuses on the more popular and sexier people (Kentucky and Louisville) in the Bluegrass State.

In the Friday the 13th films, kids don't pay attention to their environment, and they don't take warnings serious, until it's too late. Let's hope the kids at Camp Cal are ready for anything that could be hiding in the bushes tonight, ready to steal their fun... and ours. We also shouldn't forget that one of our heroes won't be in our Friday 13th film. Let's hope the rest of Camp Cal comes ready to play in his stead.
