Special message from UK to Cal's Cats

-UK is currently a three point favorite against North Carolina. This should be a good game and maybe I'm pessimistic but after hearing Cal speak, he makes it sound like UK could be in trouble. He mentions how UK is very young and although North Carolina lost a lot of talent they are starting a ton of experienced players from last year’s National Championship team. I have some concerns on how our freshman will be able to show composure in a big game. UNC is coming off playing tough talent; UK hasn’t seen any team even close to being a ranked team yet…
I hope I see a flood of messages tomorrow saying, “What were you worried about? We beat them! Go Cats!” That would be some hate mail I would love to hear…

The good news is UK doesn’t seem to be coming on in over confident. The team watched the North Carolina and Michigan St. game together and Cal said afterwards the team realized they had a tough competitor Saturday. Cal said they have been practicing as if they are 4-3 because they easily could have been.
-UK had a special organized meeting at Rupp with the student section for the fans to practice being crazy in an organized fashion and you can check out some video of this here: http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=36635

-This is being directed by Amber McGehee and I contacted her asking if she had any special word for those attending games at Rupp this year. Below is her response and I would suggest everyone to take her advice. There is such a thing as home court advantage but we have too many fans that are able to stand and cheer loud all game long and they are not. I understand some physically cannot, I'm not talking about those. Being loud and crazy is not after some big play, it is an all game thing especially when our team is in a drought, and this is when they need you to be loud and crazy the most. Can you imagine how loud it could get if 20,000 plus fans were yelling and stomping their feet when an opposing team has the ball or shooting free throws??? Many people are saying that the students need more seats so it can be louder. Maybe this is true but I'm challenging all those who are not students to prove them wrong and be crazy loud all game long and do what you can to get everyone around you to do the same. The atmosphere could be much more then it is and I hope this is the beginning of a new crazy Rupp that teams will actually fear coming into.

Amber's message to everyone:

Our hope is that the student body can bring an energy level to the pregame that the non-student fans can really feed off. The easiest thing for non-students to take part in are the things that may seem obvious. STAND and CLAP when the fight song is played. Watch the student section...if a cheer or action looks and sounds familiar...DO IT! Many simple things like responding to the band and cheerleaders seem really easy, but if everyone does them it begins to compound.

I really believe that fans feed off each other...tomorrow that might be a little easier than most!

Our hope is that we as fans can bring this energy to EVERY game. Get in your seats early, wear blue, and BE LOUD!

As always, we're open to suggestions for chants, cheers, actions...ANYTHING. KentuckySAC@gmail.com for anyone wishing to share.

Go Cats

Amber
