UCONN @ Madison Square Garden

Lost in the hype surrounding the big game with the Tarholes is another big test on the horizon. UCONN has won two championships in the past ten years and bring a top 15 team into action at Madison Square Garden. Any let down from our young team will result in a reality check. There are several interesting story lines surrounding the game. First, there is bad blood between the coaches. I actually like that guys like Calhoun and Pitino strongly dislike our coach. Check out this link for an interesting read about some bad blood around Calipari. Coaches don't like CAL

It will be interesting to see how our young team reacts to the bright lights and big stage of Madison Square Garden. UConn has a lot more experience on this stage than we do. As will be the case for most of the season, UK will have the two best players on the court in Wall and Patterson. We have a long way to go as a team, but when the game is on the line those are two guys you want on your side.

We will have a lot more on UConn later...

  1. I am worried about this game. UCONN is a talented team with a lot of experience at MSG. It's a home away from home for the Huskies and will be our first real test away from Rupp. I hope and think that the Cats will be ready to go with the same focus they did against UNC. Cats by 5.

  2. Midge here-

Uconn is a team we shouldn't fear, they barely beat some no name team by single digits over the weekend. Yeah, they were possibly looking ahead to the showdown w/us; but my prediction is Kentucky rolls: Uk: 86 Uconn: 79

  3. Unlike Mr. J Lee, I worry about every game with such a young and inexperienced team. As well as we travel, it should help to negate some of what is a natural home court advantage for the Huskies, but that's only part of the problem.

John Wall must not get into fould trouble. Same with Big Cuz... hopefully, after the last game, he's through pitching fits and will start playing ball more consistently.

PPat is the man... even not bein featured as in previous years, he is putting up just as good of numbers, and hopefully providing the much needed leadership our youngsters need.

  4. Haven't seen UCONN play enough to judge their team, but I do feel like we can handle them. If Wall can stay in the game and the rest of the team play like they did against UNC, we should take care of business. Should....

  5. Don't get me wrong TJ, I hope that UK comes ready to play, but I am far from confident. I found it unlikely that they would win all of their non conference games and I figured it would come down to UNC and UCONN as their possible loss. Since UNC is down, that leaves UCONN. This is a game they can win or lose, I know they can if they play like they did the first half against UNC, but if the second half team shows up, we are in trouble. I figure they'll fall somewhere in between and that still might be enough to win.
