Thursday News and Views...

Gomez here...

Thursday is finally here, which means the weekend is right around the corner. I would be even more excited about it being Thursday if "The Office" was new tonight, but its another re-run. Lucky for us we have a couple of SEC basketball games to watch.

Arkansas and Mississippi State play on ESPNU and Auburn and Tennessee play on ESPN2, both at 6 PM CST. I'll probably just flip back and forth between the two, but I'll mostly be concerned with the Auburn and Tennessee game. It'll be interesting to scout the Tigers for our game with them on Saturday, and to see how Tennessee plays after their big win over Kansas this past Sunday. I expect Mississippi State and Tennessee to both win their games.

Speaking of winning games, did you happen to see Clemson beat North Carolina last night? Clemson is 14-3 and ranked 19th in the country but the fans still felt obligated to rush the floor after beating #13 North Carolina. Come on, guys... act like you've won a game or two this year, especially considering that the Tar Heels are having somewhat of a down year and have already lost 5 games. I thought it was pretty humerous and even kinda sad. Oh well... enjoy your fun Clemson, I guess. That's what Andy Katz thinks anyway.

Last night, Michael mentioned Pat Dooley's article about Kentucky's return to the top of the SEC, but its worth mentioning again. It was a great read, and one that all UK fans should take a look at. Click here if you haven't read it yet, and be prepared to smile.

Kentucky might have impressed Dooley, Katz, and everyone else Tuesday night, but I guess Jay Bilas still doesn't think the Wildcats are on the same level as Kansas and Texas, which is odd considering Bilas just named Calipari and Wall as his top picks for coach and player of the year so far this season. I won't hold this against Bilas for too long since he's usually fair to Calipari and the Wildcats, but this still seems like a confusing oversight on his part.

Anyway, Thursday is here, and we're glad because that means tomorrow is Friday. Keep checking back for updates throughout the day. As always, stay tuned for more later.
