Big Boogie

This is the one time in my life that I'm glad to have a big "Boogie"! Whatever name you want to give DeMarcus Cousins this week, he is certainly a grown man playing against children. Once again he takes home SEC Freshman of the Week , which should have it's name changed to best Kentucky Freshman of the Week. UK has had a freshmen honored a league record 11 times this year! By the way Cousins has won Freshman of the week 3 times this year and SEC Player of Week once.

I think the most impressive thing about awards like this is these guys aren't one man shows like a South Carolina or LSU who has that one guy that can score 45 in a game because he gets to shoot 50 times. (What I label the Allen Iverson effect.) These guys are playing with exceptional talent around them and still manage to impress the league.

Congrats and we look forward to continuing our dominance with post season awards.

  1. I thought it was hilarious last week that Marshawn Powell got FOTW when Boogie averaged like 25 and 13 or something. It is like when MJ was in the NBA, he should have got MVP every year. There is no real reason for another Frosh to get the award besides UK players, but I am not going to get too worked up over another kid getting some nice recognition.
