Some Football News...

Gomez here...

:: UK announced today that Clifford Snow, a veteran football administrator and coach, is the new director of football operations at Kentucky. Snow will assist Phillips in all football administration duties, as well as serving as the liaison to compliance, academics and other university areas. He also is responsible for team travel, coordinating clinics, preseason training camp, football budget and supervising the football support staff. Snow comes to UK from East Carolina, where he served in the same position for the last five seasons.

:: In other football news, five Wildcats have been invited to participate in the NFL Combine. John Conner, Micah Johnson, Trevard Lindley, Sam Maxwell and Corey Peters have made the trip to Indianapolis for the annual event, which will start today and run through March 2. Congrats to these guys for getting the opportunity to show their stuff. We wish them well.

:: For those that have been critical of Joker's first few weeks on the job should take a look at this. The hiring of wide receivers coach Tee Martin and offensive line coach Mike Summers are among the top-20 assistant coaching hires so far this year, according to Tom Dienhart of Rivals.com. While some eyebrows were raised when Phillips made some questionable moves right out of the gate, it seems like he certainly knows what he's doing, such as locking up a solid recruiting class and hiring some outstanding coaches.

:: All of this good news almost makes you ready for spring football, but I guess we'll have to enjoy March Madness to hold us over.

:: Oh and one more thing... it seems that Tennessee has finally gotten over the whole Lane Kiffin saga. In an effort to bury the hatchet, Tennessee fans can now buy this shirt, just to show there's no hard feelings...
