Sunday Night Notes...

As you might have noticed, Sundays are pretty slow around here, except of course, on those rare Sundays when Kentucky has a game, like next Sunday when Kentucky hosts Florida for Senior Day. With that said, here's a few notes to the end day with...

:: Random first... I love these shoes on the left. They wore by the Wildcats of the mid-80's, and I love to see them broke out for a game at some point. Now, I realize this is most likely not going to happen but it would be cool if it did.

:: Purdue lost today to Michigan State today, ending a weekend of upsets. With the top three teams all losing this weekend, and with Syracuse's convincing victory over Villanova, its almost certain we'll have a new team take over the #1 ranking when the polls are released tomorrow.

:: Little brother pulled off a solid win at UConn today, upsetting UConn's senior day activities. The loss today probably knocks UConn off the bubble and into NIT territory, but helps the Cardinals solidify their NCAA resume with a solid road conference win.

:: Speaking of the NIT, it might have a SEC flavor this year. Lunardi has predicted that Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Florida will most likely be three of the last teams out of the Big Dance, and could be joined by a number of other SEC teams hovering around the .500 mark. Right now, Kentucky, Vandy and Tennessee are the only locks on Selection Sunday.

:: Kentucky travels to Georgia on Wednesday in what is now a big game for Kentucky's hunt for a #1 seed. Georgia's record doesn't indicate how tough of a team they are, especially at home. So far at home this season, the Bulldogs have already knocked off Illinois, Saint Louis, Georgia Tech, Vandy and Tennessee; so that should remind us all just how tough this game on Wednesday could be. We'll have lots more to share on this game as we get closer to game day.

That's all for now, check back tomorrow and all week for all your UK news and views.

  1. Still think Florida gets in, especially if they can knock of Vandy at home on Tuesday. I really hope they do. I just would like to see more SEC teams find a way in the field.

I also think Georgia is a tough game, but no way this team drops two in a row. I think we'll be fine.

Can't wait for the SEC-T, got my tickets in the mail Friday!
