We asked you guys who was the most valuable player for the Cats so far, and the results were a landslide...
1.) DeMarcus Cousins 64%
2.) John Wall 23%
3.) Patrick Patterson 11%
4.) Eric Bledsoe 2%
Had we asked this question a few weeks ago, the results would have most likely been different, but big Cuz has turned into a beast, or as Barry Booker likes to call it, "Shaq-like," therefore he's sorta running away with it. Last night, he had another dominating game, posting his millionth double-double (quite the accomplishment for a freshmen) in a Kentucky uniform.
John Wall was in second place, and he's the one that might turn out to be the most valuable player down the stretch. In the Bama game, John had some awesome plays and nearly took over on the offensive end. He finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds. However, he only had one assist and last I heard, like 6 turnovers. That's not going to cut it for our point man, but we have nothing to worry about... afterall, he is John Wall.
P-Pat continues to the be x-factor for this team. He's not getting the touches or the shot attempts, therefore his offensive numbers are down, but we know what he's capable of when he gets the chance to shoot. When he faces the basket, he's got a great stroke, but where we will need him down the home stretch is crashing the boards and battling for loose balls... something he hasn't done as effective in conference play. Still, you have to think we've yet to see the best from Patrick Patterson, and he's just waiting to explode at some point in the near future.
Lastly, Bledsoe is an amazing talent, but he's young and still showing signs of growing pains. After a hot stretch earlier in the season, Bledsoe was sneaking up some of the mock drafts to mid-first round, but that has dropped off lately, which is probably a good thing for him. He needs the second year (or more) in Lexington to hone his skills and get better with the ball before he takes on the challenges of the NBA.
That's the breakdown of the top Cats so far, but you know this could change in this last third of the season. Stay tuned to see which Cat(s) will lead the Cats to their post season destiny.
More later...
