Team of the Week: Kentucky

Andy Katz of ESPN.com has named Kentucky the "Team of the Week," after the Cats won at both Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, which is a nice acknowledgement by the world wide leader. Sure, the Cats had some issues this week, and both wins were dang near losses, but Katz keeps things in perspective. Vandy and Mississippi State are both quality teams, and both provided intense environments on their home floors. For Kentucky to go on the road, not once but twice, and escape with two hard fought victories, despite not playing at their best, speaks volumes to how good we are and how much better we still can be.

I had the chance to hang out with CBS's Gary Parrish at the Vandy game, and he said Kentucky has more or less locked up a #1 seed now, barring any type of unlikely collapse down the home stretch of the regular season. Andy Katz's said the same thing in his article, as well. To know that Kentucky is 26-1, destined for a number one seed, and still have yet to play to their potential is a pretty exciting thought as the madness of March draws near.

That's all for tonight. We're going to have a pretty solid week coming up, so stay tuned. I have interviews with both Gary Parrish and Kenny "Sky" Walker to share, and we'll be previewing the revenge game with South Carolina on Thursday.

Should be a fun time, so stick around.
