Tonight, our Women's hoops team will be donning the pink jerseys to help raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Research. (I know Fancy is impressed with these darling outfits) The Lady Cats will face off against Florida at 6 PM CST. Despite being picked to finish 11th in the SEC preseason, the Wildcats currently rank second in the league standings, with an impressive 21-4 record overall and a 9-3 record in the always tough SEC. Meanwhile, Florida is only 13-12 and 6-6, so the Wildcats should be heavily favored, though I don't pretend to really know much about it. Nonetheless, we wish them the best of luck tonight... GO BIG
If you watched any college basketball last night, you saw some pretty good games. Purdue stayed in the hunt for a #1 seed by handing Ohio State their first loss at home this season. I saw the highlights, and it looked to be a pretty competitive game throughout. Meanwhile,
And, what in the world is going on with Texas? They got it handed to them by Mizzou last night, and they've now lost six of their last nine games. At the risk of sounding like a Monday morning quarterback, I said earlier this season that Texas was a bit overrated. I was told by most that I was crazy, but even I couldn't predict the sudden downfall of the former number one team in the country. A team that was considered a lock for a #1 seed just a few weeks ago, the Longhorns are now in danger of falling all the way to a 6 or 7 seed, if not lower. Could it be possible for them to end up on the bubble before its all said and done? Well, if they don't start playing better pretty soon, I wouldn't rule it out.
Gotta give a quick shout-out to our boy, John Pelphrey. The Hawgs beat down the Gamecocks last night, improving their record to 14-12 and 7-4 in the SEC. They've won six of their last seven, have sole ownership of first place in the west, and I couldn't be happier for them. With every win, Pelphrey silences his critics and assures himself a little more time to rebuild the Arkansas program.
As for our team, we're still riding high from that nice little thumb in the eye of the MSU haters. However, we have to quickly turn our attention to the Commodores of Vandy for a big road game on Saturday. I said at the beginning of the SEC slate that the at Mississippi State and at Vanderbilt games were the toughest two game stretch that we'd play in the conference portion of the schedule. Well, the Bulldogs held up their end of the bargin by forcing the Cats to overtime, and I don't think anyone would be surprised if Vandy doesn't play us just as tough this weekend. I'm expecting another stressful game, but I hope it has a similar outcome.
Well, that's all for now. Its a little slow around here today, so don't expect a whole lot, but check back you can and we'll do our best to keep you entertained.
