Gomez here...
Rumors are swirling all over the internet that mention Billy Clyde on the short list of a number of jobs expected to be vacant after the season. Some of those include programs like Iowa State, Houston and DePaul.
The Houston job seems like the best fit for a guy that has done his best work in the state of Texas. But, we're pretty sure Gillisipie would most likely jump at the chance to coach at any of these schools. While he doesn't need the money, the guy's life is nothing but basketball, and he's ready to dive back into it.
Not that you care, but some might, so we'll keep ya posted just in case.

I am curious what Clyde's reception will be when he gets another job. I think he would be better off in the CUSA at a place like Houston. Just don't see him being ready for the bright lights. I wonder if he has learned anything over his mercurial rise and fall. Hope so. Don't really wish any ill will for him
ReplyDeleteI think he could be a successful at Iowa State. He could build a solid program there. May not cut down any nets, but they can certainly compete in the Big 12. Houston would be the second best choice. I would stay away from Depaul, although Chicago is a recruiting heaven.
ReplyDeleteI throw out as many Billy G jokes as anybody but I can honestly say I have on personal vendetta against him and I hope he gets another shot and succeeds.
ReplyDeleteHe was a pretty good coach at A&M but he just didnt have the personality to deal with the spotlight in Lexington. Honestly, I hope he gets the DePaul job because like I posted a couple weeks ago, they could be eyeing Strick after this season and I would prefer to keep him around if possible.
