Today starts the second round of the NCAA tournament as teams begin punching their tickets to the Sweet 16.
St. Mary and Nova get it started in the South Region (also known as the Duke Invitational to you conspiracy theorists out there) at 1:05 PM EST. This could be an interesting game. St. Mary really played well in the opening round, while the Wildcats of Villanova have not been playing anywhere near as well as they did earlier in the season. I think Nova will pull it out, but wouldn't be shocked with an upset here either.
The next game of the day is Butler vs. Murray State. Of course, we're all pulling for the Racers to advance to the Sweet 16, and they've have to play another great game to defeat a very good Butler team. I say Murray by 4.
The fighting Pearls of Tennessee got a little gift from Ohio, who upset Georgetown in the first round. If Tennessee plays like they can (and should) they'll have a pretty easy path to the Sweet 16. I say the Vols by 9 today.
Of course there are several other games going on today that I don't have the time (or the desire to be honest) to talk about, but the biggest game of the day (to us anyway) is the Kentucky and Wake Forest match-up, which will be the last game of day 3 of the NCAA tournament. I really think Kentucky will take care of business and send the Demon Deacons packing for home. Let's say Wildcats by 12, but I wouldn't be surprised if that margin was smaller or larger. At the end of the day, its all about surviving and advancing, folks.
