Well the semifinals are set, and the final four teams in the SEC will face off for the right to play in tomorrow's championship game. In game one, we'll have our Wildcats vs. the Vols of Tennessee. In game two, Vandy and Mississippi State will play.
It might be a little scary that Kentucky has the least to play for out of the teams remaining. At 30-2, they're already a lock for a #1 seed, while the other three teams are playing to put themselves in the best possible situation for a better seed; and in Mississippi State's case, they're just trying to make the field of 65.
Still, the Cats are playing for a shot at the number one overall seed. If Kansas were to get upset in the Big 12 tournament, and if Kentucky were to win the SEC tournament, that would most certainly happen.
Working in Kentucky's favor is the fact that Kentucky has played only one game so far, and Tennessee will be playing their third in as many days. Their legs might get weak before the end of the game, so look for Kentucky to push the ball into transition early and often, allowing Wall and Bledsoe to get to the rim. I predict Kentucky by 8.
In game two, Vandy will have their hands full. For most of last night's game, the Bulldogs of State were impressive and played like a team on a mission. With a win today, they'll make a case for the NCAA bubble, but a loss would probably send them to the NIT. Meanwhile, Vandy just hasn't been playing very well lately. Despite having the best coach in the SEC (sarcasm is my strong suit), the Dores have been in a slump. With that in mind, I'm going to predict the Bulldogs by 5.
It'll be fun, folks. Stick around and talk about all of today's action in the comments section below. We'll be back later to review the biggest stories of the day. Stay tuned.
