Gomez here...
Survive and advance. There's a reason why that term is so popular, especially during this time of the year. When you face a team with nothing to lose, it can go down to the wire, and that was certainly the case today in the SEC tournament. However, Kentucky (30-2) used a big second half run to capture the lead and then never again gave it up, eventually winning 73-67 over the scrappy Crimson Tide.
John Wall lead the Wildcats with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Patrick Patterson scored 20 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, as well. The only other Wildcat to score in double figures was Eric Bledsoe with 10.
Kentucky has thirty wins for the first time since the 2002-2003 season and will now face the winner of the Tennessee-Ole Miss game.
More SEC tourney coverage later, taters.
