The day after the big day...

Gomez here...

The light at the end of the tunnel is bright, and no, it's not a train. Most of us were understandably pretty down after the West Virginia debacle, but yesterday's big news made that loss seem like a very long time ago. That's right folks, the light at the end of the tunnel is UK's bright future under the recruiting magic of Coach Cal.

Last night, I read somewhere in the countless articles circulating the interwebs about UK, where a journalist said that "only Coach Cal could lose five players to the NBA and not blink an eye." Well said by whoever said it (I'd give ya' credit for the line if I could remember who you are. But I'm sure you don't mind); Coach Cal seemingly has all this planned out and is well on his way to executing his plan to perfection.

The plan is pretty simple: Reload. As expected Coach Cal is locking down what he likes to call "the best of the best." Kanter, Poole, and Knight would be enough to make all of us giddy with anticipation, but the really great news is that it doesn't stop there. Josh Selby, Doron Lamb and CJ Leslie have all said they will announce their decision at the Jordan Classic this weekend. Our sources say Lamb is a lock while the the other two are leaning towards UK, as well. When you couple those rumors with the fact that Calipari has said he expects to sign 5 or 6 players in this class, you can't help but remain on cloud-9 about next year's potential.

Of course, the 2011 class might be shaping up to be even better. Yesterday's announcement from Michael Gilchrist could be a dominoe effect as other top prospects are now tempted to follow his lead to Lexington; Marquis Teague and Tony Wroten, Jr specifically. Our fearless leader (Michael Lee) told Travis Turner on his radio show that 2012 might be Kentucky's year to truly dominate the college basketball landscape, and so far, it does seem that perfect storm is brewing on the Big Blue horizon.

So, in closing, today (and everyday) is a great day to be a Wildcat. For those that might have lost a little faith in the past couple of weeks (bad shooting, mass exodus, Duke championship), all we can say is what we've said all along... "Relax. We're going to be just fine."

More later.
