Some Big Blue Notes...

ESPN should know by now that any poll about college basketball that has Kentucky as an option, will result in a hostile takeover by The Big Blue Nation. Such is true for the web poll we mentioned yesterday, where Patrick Patterson and John Wall are currently ranked as the two top college basketball players for the upcoming season. How ridiculous is it that a team one season removed from a .500 conference record and a disappointing NIT berth could return the very next year with a top five preseason ranking and have not one, but two player of the year candidates? That is the wild ride that Big Blue Nation is currently on, which makes this peak of excitement and expectations a bit understandable to the rest of the college basketball universe.

Coach Cal made his way to Madisonville today for another short camp and public appearance. He also attended a K-Fund Luncheon, where he met up with some local legends and former UK players. You know, it's been said, but it's worth saying again... it is simply amazing how good Calipari is doing with this job! No one (and I mean no one) has done a better job making the rounds, mending fences, and selling the program than Calipari has since becoming the head coach of the Wildcats. Now all he has to do is win the national championship, and we'll all be happy. (That last part is a joke, people, so don't send me the email that just popped into your head.)

Speaking of Coach Cal, he was excited to learn about the Super Tuesday schedule that ESPN released today and then "tweeted" about it. Kentucky is scheduled to play in the maximum allowed four games on Super Tuesday, three of which will be some pretty tough road games, including Mississippi State, which just learned that Sidney will enroll for classes. Whether or not Sidney will play for the Bulldogs remains to be seen. How UK vs. Tennessee didn't make the Super Tuesday cut is beyond me. I'm assuming we'll see that on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

That's all for now... but more fun stuff is coming later, so stay tuned.
