On a somewhat slow summer day, I'm throwing out some random memories from growing up in a Kentucky Basketball crazed home. I think the day I became a true UK fanatic was December 27, 1986. I was nine years old, and it was Christmas Vacation. We had family in town from all over the place and everyone had settled into my parents' living room to watch the big show... the Kentucky vs. Louisville basketball game. The game was a coming out party for Rex Chapman, who dominated the game with 26 points, including power slams in the paint and deep jumpers from outside. I know I watched UK basketball before that day, and I know I loved it... mainly because my dad and uncles did, but on that Christmas weekend, with family and friends gathered around the tube, drinking ice cold Pepsi from plastic Solo cups, and the thick smell of Marlboro cigarettes drifting through the room, an obsession was born.

Vintage stuff Mike. Two funny spots, Rob throwing down that dunk and then trying to be excited and Eddie's haircut. I can still smell the smoke and taste the Pepsi.
