EA's NCAA Basketball 2010 Demo is available

All of you guys and gals out there with a Xbox 360 and a Xbox Live account, you can now download a free demo of EA's new college hoops game. You can only play as North Carolina or Duke, and you only get to play for one half, but you'll find out very quickly if you like the game or not.

Personally, I found it entertaining and challenging, even having to play as North Carolina. I mean, picking between the Dukies and UNC is like asking to have your hand cut off with a cleaver or melted off with an open flame... both would suck, but one would suck a little more. With that said, I found playing as the Tar Heels slightly less nauseating than playing as the Blue Devils. Anyway, despite much personal dislike (hatred even) of both of these programs, it was easy to see that EA has done a great job of capturing the look and feel of College Basketball.

The games played in the full version will either be covered by Dick Vitale and Brad Nesler of ESPN or Gus Johnson and Bill Rafferty of CBS. In the demo, it was CBS coverage, and the voice overs and network graphics were solid, helping the overall feel of genuineness for the game. For someone sitting on the couch watching, it would have looked and sounded just like a real college hoops game on ESPN or CBS... except there were no real people and only CGI generated visuals, but you know what I mean. The look and the feel was dead on.

So, we're all waiting to give Kentucky a try in this game before we give our final verdict, but the demo certainly left me wanting more, which is exactly what a demo should do. Check it out. It's a small file (relatively speaking) so it will only take a few minutes of your time.

  1. If we all get this game, how are we going to decide who gets to be Kentucky? I can't think of any other team I'll be able to play as, with the exception of maybe one of the in-state OVC schools. I certainly won't play as the Dirty Birds from the Ville.

  2. I'll be buying this game and we'll have to have drawing to see who gets to play as UK. If not I'll be playing as any Kentucky school other than UL. Think Mid-Continent will be on there? The Fighting Cougars would be my team.

  3. Haha... it's NCAA 2010, Jeremy. Not NAIA 2010. Winston and the Cougars won't make the cut.

  6. I'm think we'll have to take turns playing as the Wildcats. I don't mind letting someone else have a turn. However, when we're playing in the mancave... I'll be the Wildcats every time. House rules.

  7. I am going to buy this game. If my past performance in basketball video games is any indication I am going to be tough to beat.. I don't spend any time playing shooters anymore so I will be running twoadays til we get ready to play.
