ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Will the ACC cancel this challenge if they lose this year? Coach K seems like the kind of D-Bag to do just that.

I watched Purdue earlier against Wake Forrest. They struggled early but pulled it out to a double digit win late. They are ranked #6 in the country, and that is probably about right. I usually am in the Big Ten is overrated bandwagon, but they are actually solid this year. Michigan State might have been overrated as the #2 Preseason team, but Izzo's teams always show up when it counts in March.

Watching UNC-Michigan State now. UNC is talented. The Wear twins are a little better than I thought, but they aren't having to face the kind of talent they will see in Lexington. The key for the Tar holes to be a legitimate Top Ten team is Larry Drew III, who seems to be getting his feet underneath him. He is no Ty Lawson, but he won't have to be with the talent that will surround him during his career. At the end I don't see UNC as a serious title contender this year, but they should be good pretty good considering all that they lost after their run last season.

I think they are pretty even with us at this point, but we will have an edge in the backcourt and in physicality to go along with what should be a decided home court advantage. UNC might actually have a little more depth, and is one of the few teams that can match our length down low. John Wall and Patrick Patterson will be the two best players on the court Saturday, and that should be the difference.

If you are watching the game, talk about it in the comments section. I will be around, and my focus will be my hatred for all things UNC. Also, direct your comments/jokes about Ole Cryin' Roy's torn labrum.

  1. I don't know about anybody else, but I hope that NC is getting all of these perimeter makes out of their system... Patterson will be enlisted to shut down Thompson and that should be a good battle. Michigan State doesn't have one big guy as good as our three.

  2. Michigan State just can't make many plays. They aren't paying the attention to detail needed right now... I agree with Dicky V... I think Michigan State will cut it to single digits with around 8 to go in the game.

  3. UNC is shooting 67% right now.... Michigan State can't guard them though..

  4. UNC is showing a little immaturity late in the game... Letting Michigan State back in the game... UNC couldn't keep up the long distance shooting. I still think Larry Drew is the key though. If John Wall dominates him we should win comfortably... If Drew holds his own it will be a dog fight.

  5. Our bigs outman UNC's bigs....bank on it....Thompson going against 6'7 is different than Patterson at 6'9 and diesel powered. defend the 3, keep wall from showing out like lucas did tonight...all dribbles and no advancement to the cup...anyways, keep wall attacking the rim with a lightning quick first step and that causes problems....I'm liking the idea of wall defending someone of closer athletic ability and speed and ball handling....no backtaps against strickland and drew.....
