Coach Cal on Tomorrow's Big Game...

Gomez here...

Coach Cal just said this about tomorrow night's game:

"Just getting ready to head to the airport after a good practice this afternoon. Our team's 1st road SEC game will be a real test against a very good Florida team. Billy Donovan does a great job with his teams, and if we're not ready for a battle, we'll get beat. I checked the weather & don't worry - it's not all that much warmer in Florida, so I won't be teasing you about the warm temps! Have a great day and enjoy tomorrow night's game."

It seems that Coach Cal shares my thoughts exactly: Kentucky will have a tough contest tomorrow, and if they aren't careful, they'll get a big "L" attached to those 16 wins. While this game doesn't seem quite as big as it did a few years ago, it's still a big time game on ESPN, so it'll be interesting to see how the young players respond.

Sure, Florida has had their ups and downs, but they're solid. The Gators are 11-4 and have already beat Michigan State and Florida State, two teams ranked in the top 25. Two of their four losses were to Vanderbilt and Syracuse, two very good teams. Another loss was a close one to Richmond, a team that also beat Mississippi State and Missouri, and recently forced OT in a close loss at Wake Forest. To be honest, their only bad loss was to South Alabama and that team is 11-4 and playing well.

But all that really doesn't matter though, so I'll quit making a case for Florida. This is a SEC rivalry game on ESPN, and you can guarantee the Gators will be ready to play, and that the "Rowdy Reptiles" in the stands will be in full force from the student section. If the Georgia game showed anything to Cal and the Cats, its that every SEC game will be a battle and every team can beat any of ther others on any given night.

Undefeated in the SEC? We'll have a better idea if this is really possible after tomorrow night. Check back later for more coverage on the Florida game as we look into our crystal ball and make our bold predictions.
