Hump Day News, Rumors and Links...
Gomez here...
:: Don't look now, but here comes Georgia. The Bulldogs beat #17 Georgia Tech last night, and will now come into Rupp with a new found confidence. To make matters worse, the Bulldogs have been shooting the ball well from 3 point range, something that has given Kentucky fits this season. Our prediction: Kentucky by 31.
:: Michael Gilchrist, the #1 recruit for 2011, injured his knee in a high school game. Most people believe that Gilchrist is going to be a Wildcat, so we'll need to keep an eye on this injury.
:: Coach Cal took his players bowling Monday night. No word on how John Wall did.
:: Our man Larry Vaught asks a good question... where's the public outcry against UT? This university has seen some major problems over the past few months, with both the football and men's basketball programs. However, there's not really been any hammering from the talking heads from around the country. Apparently, allegedly cheating on an exam or taking gifts from an agent are far worse actions than robbery, drug use, and carrying illegal weapons. Yeah right. If Kentucky players had been caught in these type of actions, ESPN would act like the world is coming to an end.
:: Former Cat, John Pelphrey nearly pulled off a big upset last night. Arkansas was tied with #2 Texas at the half, and again cut the lead to 2 in the second half before a late Longhorn run washed away all hope for an upset Razorback victory. This would have been a huge win for Pelphrey and his program, but they'll have to settle for a moral victory. His team never gave up and played the #2 team hard right up to the final buzzer. Let's hope this gives them a little momentum moving forward.
:: There are rumors that Joker Phillips might mix up his staff a bit. While some holdovers are expected, most believe that Joker will put his own finger prints on the program that he inherited from retiring Rich Brooks.
That's all for now. More later.
