Is our run with recruits over?

I can't believe that I'm typing this... especially after the incomparable recruiting run Coach Cal made last year, and in such a short amount of time, but what's the deal with having only one recruit for next season?

CJ Leslie, pictured above, is counted by a great deal as being UK bound. If he is in fact headed to play for the Big Blue, what could he possibly benefit from holding out on his commitment?

Of course, there are always going to be people who will say "Oh, he's a silent commitment" or something to that effect, but this isn't football. We don't need to keep anything quiet, as we do not need to recruit multiple players at his position. Even if we did want to sign 2, that would have zero effect on CJ as long as he comes in and takes care of his business on and off the court.

The guy is a phenomenal talent who needs to pull the trigger.

  1. I hear ya, Booker, but I think we were just spoiled last season with one of the best recruiting classes of all time. The spring signing period is usually a better time to critique the class, so lets hope we have some big names come on board in the next few months.

  2. Calm down beast. These players are waiting ton see what the uk roster will look like next year. Plus they like the attention l. Guys are going to wait until minutes are going to be there before committing. Plus you gotta wait and see if the coach is actually going to be there.

  3. I understand your frustration Book, but this isn't Tubby or Billy Clyde were talking about. Remember what Cal did in the spring period last year? He'll do something similar this spring. No worries.

  4. You bite your tongue. How dare you question Coach Calipari. All he has done since coming to campus is piss excellence. #1 recruiting class and 17-0 with wins against rivals north car., louisville, indiana, and florida. Our recruiting class next year will be Top 10. Selby or Knight, Leslie, Poole, and a Juco player. We gotta save room for 2011 to go after gilchrist, miller, and teague. So I hope we don''t fill available scholarships with too many 3-4 yr players.

  5. We are going to have several open scholarships after this season don't forget.

    Wall-NBA
    Cousins-NBA (likely)
    Patterson-NBA
    Krebs-Graduation
    Stevenson-Graduation
    Harris-Graduation

Orton and Bledsoe could both declare after next season freeing up two more and Harrellson is graduating. Bledsoe could even make a case after this season with many more games like Tuesday's. My point is there are plenty of scholarships to go after some big time players in this class. I think he'll add at least three more. My guess, CJ, Selby and hopefully Knight.

You guys need to calm down, we are going to be fine. We don't have to worry about recruiting any more.

  9. Selby, CJ, Lamb with Poole...think Knight goes to Florida...Gilchrist and Miller the following year (think Teague ends up at Indiana...just a hunch...)...Ricardo Ratliffe also in the mix for the 2010 class...sky isn't falling...in fact, it's a beautiful shade of Kentucky blue...
