Brick City: Cats fall to Vols in Knoxville

Just one game removed from avenging their only loss of the season, the Cats took another trip to "brick city" by going a nasty 2 for 22 from 3 point range, causing them to fall to Tennessee in Knoxville.

The Vols were composed and well prepared for the game, and Kentucky had no answer on either side of the floor. Kentucky failed to hit open shots all day, while Tennessee streaked down the floor for open lay ups and back door cuts on their missed shots.

Kentucky wasn't without their spurts though, coming back from a 19 point deficit to tie the score at 65 behind DeMarcus Cousins' 15 points and 14 rebounds. However, Tennessee scored the last 9 points of the game to win 74-65.

Kentucky is now 27-2 overall and 12-2 in the SEC. As long as they can win the remaining games on the schedule, they should be okay in the hunt for a #1 seed. Still, Kentucky has to take care of business moving forward or a slip to the #2 line is not out of the picture.

I'll have more to say about this game later... gotta let it soak in first. Stay tuned.

  1. Tough loss today. If you watched the game it's quite simple.....we was not ready to play the first 30 minutes of the game, and 10 min. isn't quite enough time to come back from a 19 pt. deficit. We have got to start shooting the ball better from the outside or stop shooting them. Dodson has just disappeared after catching fire and starting a few games in late Jan. He practically shot two airballs today, and he was wide open. Oh yeah, those thinking Bledsoe is NBA ready....get real, he hasn't done much in SEC play with exception of one good half against Tenn. in Lexington. Stay in school Eric YOUR NOT THAT GOOD.....yet. Kentucky boy Scotty Hopson was the dagger though, his drive and dish and three pointer was the difference in the game. We are so young and it showed today. Why? Why....did Miller try to dribble the ball (while under Tenn. basket) pick up your dribble and look for an open man, if no one's there call timeout. Wall make a huge mistake losing the ball late that caused us a chance to tie or possibly take the lead. Now granted Wall WAS the reason we came back, he has to be under more control when the game matters most.
This one hurts, but we're still in the "Cat-bird" seat when it comes to a number 1 seed. Beat Georgia and take care of business on Sr. night, and no matter what we do in the SEC tourney we're there. I think we'll learn from this win; and be a better team because of it. I think we'll beat Georgia and Fla. and head to Nashville like a bunch of crazed dogs and win the SEC championship, locking up possibly the number one over all seed.

C-ya in March boys, when the real madness begins.
