Gomez here...
It's only fitting that for the second week in a row, my satellite has gone out on game day. Last Tuesday afternoon, I spent an hour under my house checking the coaxial wires to see if I could locate a problem. None was found, so the trusty satellite repairman showed up, 76 hours later, to fix my little problem. He blamed it on moisture in the cables or something like that.
Fast-forward one week, and the luckiest woman on the face of the earth (Mrs. Gomez) calls me at the office and says for the second Tuesday in a row, our satellite has gone out. She was in the middle of watching Matt and Meredith break down the Oscar nominations when zap... the screen goes black and the same frustrating error message popped up... SEARCHING FOR SATELLITE SIGNAL.
I'm starting to feel like Bill Murray from Groundhog Day, and since this is in fact Groundhog Day, its a little surreal. I'm wondering if God wants me to think about other things than Kentucky basketball, or if he's just playing a mean joke on me; but either way, it seems fate doesn't want me to watch a Kentucky basketball game on Super Tuesday. How sad is that?
At any rate, I'm pretty sure unless Cal can reschedule the game in coordination with my satellite dude, the game will go on as scheduled, and I'll spend the rest of the afternoon either a.) trying in vain to fix the unknown problem or b.) find somewhere else to watch the game. I'm hoping that if I'm not able to watch the game, I won't actually miss much. I'm hoping that Kentucky will wipe the floor clean with the Rebels, but as you all know, that's yet to be determined. Because just like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, the same ole thing keeps happening over and over, and we just never know which Kentucky team is going to show up. If we play like we did against Arkansas, and for most of the Vandy game, we'll be fine. If we play like we did against Georgia and Auburn, then who knows for sure because Ole Miss is better than either one of those teams.
I'm probably being a little hard on our boys right now, but I'm pretty frustrated about my predicament. So even though I'm bitter, go ahead and post your thoughts on tonight's game in the comments section, and let us know what's going on in your neck of the Big Blue woods.
