FB Cats land another '11 commitment

On Thursday, Joker Phillips landed his 3rd football commitment for the 2011 class in Glen Faulkner.

Faulkner, a 6'2", 194 safety from East Saint Louis, Illinois, is a ball-hawk. After watching some of his film, he possesses good speed and instincts in playing the pass, and very good instincts against the run.

It looks like Joker and the Cats are getting a good one. He has no current ranking on rivals, but, after the summer evaluation periods conclude, I expect him to have multiple offers from schools such as Kansas, Illinois and Minnesota.

  1. I think Joker will bring in some good talent. I just hope he knows what to do with it.

  2. While Joker will no doubt have his hands on the defense somewhat, any coach worth his salt knows to hire a guy you trust, with you philosophy, and let him go.

I'm always going to reference FSU in these cases, but it's just like when Bobby Bowden lured Mickey Andrews to Tallahassee. Bowden was an offensive mind. He brought Mickey in, and HE ran the defense, completely.
