:: First things first. Seems like I was a little premature in saying goodbye to Patrick. I didn't listen to the post game show on the radio last night because I was too busy rooting on my second favorite team (whoever is playing Duke) on ESPN. Apparently though, Patrick told Mike Pratt that nothing is decided yet, and that there's still a chance he'll return for his senior year, especially if Kentucky doesn't win it all this year. So, while there's still a real possibility that he'll bolt for the dollars in the NBA draft this summer (and who could blame him), there's also still a chance that he'll pull a Tyler Hansbrough and come back for more next season.
:: Yahoo! Sports announced their all conference teams today, and as one might expect, Kentucky racked up several honors. DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall and Patrick Patterson were all named to their first team All-SEC, and John Wall also won both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors. Our main man, John Calipari won their Coach of the Year, as well. We can all assume that these are just the first of many accolades that our team will receive at season's end.
:: Earlier today, we heard some good news on the football recruiting front, but things are still somewhat quiet on the basketball side. ESPN reported today that CJ Leslie is down to NC State, Florida and UK, and most think Cal has the best shot to lock him up. Meanwhile, others (like ESPN's Dick Vitale) think its just a matter of time before he locks up the #1 recruit, Brandon Knight too. Still, all the coveted recruits are staying mum for now, so only time will tell.
:: Have you heard all those rumors about Cal heading back to the NBA to coach for the same franchise that fired him only ten years ago or so? Well, forget it (probably). This article basically said what I've thought for a while... Kentucky is his dream job and there's no way he'll leave after one season. Still, as we all know too well, we should probably never say never.
:: Last night, the hunt for the number one seeds sorted itself out a bit. Kentucky, Kansas and Purdue all rebounded from their recent losses and won their mid-week games, while Duke and Kansas State both lost on the road. In my opinion, as of right now, Syracuse, Kansas, Kentucky and Purdue are your #1 seeds, and Kansas State, Duke, West Virginia and Ohio State are your #2's. Of course, I'm no Joe Lunardi or anything, so take that for what its worth... which ain't much.
:: Former Kentucky Coach Eddie Sutton has finally spoken out about his son's addiction to prescription pain-killers. Sean Sutton was arrested for illegally obtaining prescription drugs last month. If you might recall, Eddie Sutton had his own battles with addiction after several years of alcohol abuse. You can read the article about the Sean Sutton's condition here.
:: Well, that's all for now. Tune in tomorrow for a preview of the Senior Day match up with Florida. Good night and good luck, Big Blue Nation.
