An "Honest" look at the 2010 NCAA Tournament

I’ll be the first to chime in with my thoughts/insights on the 2010 Tournament. When looking over the brackets I have pretty much decided that this is one of the toughest years to predict/project.

Parody has ruled the day in the NCAA and that theme will ring tried and true in the 2010 NCAA Tourney. My Final Four is quite “Catty” in fact; three of my Final Four are Wildcats. Kentucky, Kansas State and Villanova, the final member is the Kansas Jayhawks, who I am picking to be in the title game against the Kentucky Wildcats.

On the way to the Final Four, here are some thoughts/ predictions to look out for...

- Murray State is a fine story but they won’t beat Vandy. At the SEC Tournament I witnessed Vandy back their way into the NCAA field of 65, as they were uninspiring against Georgia and against Miss. St. Murray is a good team but Ogilvy will eat them alive on the inside. I hope the Racers win but I am picking Vandy in the brackets.

- Sleepers, lots of candidates for sleepers in this tournament. Who will play Cinderella? In my bracket I filled out I have UTEP going to the Sweet 16 along with Sienna. Two other teams I have going to the Sweet 16 are not what you would call sleepers, but who you would call serious potholes in the road to the Final Four, those teams are Oklahoma St. and Louisville. Oklahoma St. has one of the more complete players in the NCAAs in James Anderson. I am not buying into the Big Ten Conference. Bye, Bye Ohio State. As for Louisville, they have been like Michael Myers all year. Every time that you think they are down and out we leave them for dead. I think Ricky P will have the Cards ready to play the Dukies. The Dukies beat up on a weak ACC all year and the Big East battle tested Cardinals will be ready. Duke will be the first 1 seed to fall. Syracuse will be the next 1 seed to fall, as K-State will beat them in the Elite 8.

-Will Coach Cal claim his first title?? Coach Cal came heartbreakingly close as the coach of Memphis two years ago against Kansas. Coach Cal will once again face that demon and defeat Kansas in the title game, as the Kentucky Wildcats take the 2010 Championship 77 to 70. GO CATS!!

  1. I am interested in what might happen when a team will play us straight up, and doesn't try to slow us down. I am not sure how many teams in college basketball are willing to play that way with us, but hopefully we find a couple in this tourney..
