After an extended break to Watch Eastbound and Down, Jepordy and last nights Office we are ready for the games to begin. I'm energized about to down a RedBull and Lucian is staring at a rough trick named Jim. Everybodies having a good time.
Texas A&M pulled off the big win. I have them beating Duke because somebody has to. In fact I'll be rooting for Arkansas Pine-Bluff tonight. I'd love for the first 1 seed to lose be Duke to a play in winner even.
6:09--We are about to start the Gonzaga Florida St. game. I think if Gonzaga was any softer they would be named Charmin.
6:10--Gonzaga is Lucian's favorite team. In fact he liked them so much when we were talking to girls back in college he used to tell girls he was from Spokane Washington. On a related note Lucian was NOT hooking up much back then.
6:12--I like FSU's jerseys. just have FSU on the front. I don't really like UK's new ones, they are very busy. At least they arent denim (even though that was the best team ever in 1996)
6:13--Buffalo fans did NOT show up for this one. That's a shame this could be a good game.
6:14--Sketchy foul on Gonzaga gets Lucian real upset. He's gonna be wild the rest of the blog but I can't say why, but you need to stay tuned. The foul did bring in Will Foster who is 7-5 has a red beard and shoots about 20% from the free throw line. We are both giddy, or course we leave that game to get to Oklahoma St--GA Tech, again thank you CBS
6:17--I like Okie St. because of Travis Ford but after seeing their cheerleaders I think we are all winners. Way to bring it ladies.
6:18--We find out that Okie St. has the Big 12 player of the year. We are amazed by this. Kansas, Kansas St., and Texas are there. Apprenlty James Anderson is really good. I didn't know. I can't watch enough basketball only UK and Murray. Classes are really getting in the way of my knowledge.
6:20--Lucian is wanting to go out after these early games. So he went to dress up. I should point out that his "going-out" shirt a GI Joe's Cobra shirt.
6:22--We check the NIT for a second. Sorry fellas but we have too good of basketball in the real tourney, enjoy your fake banner UNC
6:23--Oklahoma State's Eddie Keiton Page knocks down 2 big 3's. Lucian "He's 5 foot nothing, 100 and nothing" He is a quick favorite at Lucian's lair. I asked Lucian what that quote was from, he said RUDY! very angrily. Things might get wild soon.
6:25--Nick Sidorakis of Okie St has a Spikey Mohawk going. He better be good.
6:26--One of Travis Ford's assistant's (Steve Middleton) used to coach at St. Mary's in Paducah. Lucian reads his stats. He is a former Paducah Sun Purchase Area Coach of the Year---Good for him.
6:29--GA Tech up 3 and James Anderson answers with an AND 1. Lucian "that's why he's the big 12 player of the year" Indeed
6:31--Lucian does his patented high step shuffle across the room then we see Zachary Peacock shooting free throws for Georgia Tech. Favorite name so far today. The Peacock family must be very proud of their son.
6:33--The annoucers in the Ga Tech game "This has a feel of an NCAA basketball game" Lucian "That's because it is!" I think these announcers are more wiped out than I am
6:34--Derek Favors gets called for a travel; Lucian "That call was not in his FAVORS!" Then yells "PUT THAT IN" Anything for him.
6:35--Keaton Page BIG SHOT. We are loving the kid. He looks like he might be 14 years old.
6:36--This is Inspired Performance, this is they way of Infiniti--the commercials have not been great so far. I just found out there is a difference from the Okie St. Dance team and cheerleaders. Not a huge one but you know where you'd rather be (it's with the Dance team)
6:38--I am upset because my favorite nite of the year (St. Mary's trivia night) starts tomorrow at 7, 15 minutes before the UK game. We need to do something about this.
6:41--We are trying to figure out why CBS is only giving us the CBS game. I think it might be Travis Ford, Lucian thinks its b/c Milwaukee is the closest place going. We both agree it has something to do with CBS hating use since NM St. Mich St started.
6:43 Duke up 10 on Ark-Pine Bluff. I hope somebody drives a stake through Kyle Singler this game, He needs to get subbed out early this game to go find somebodies blood to suck. I don't like that guy.
6:44--Mich St. back up 5-2 on NM St. I like that. I think Izzo can beat Kansas. Not a great chance but I could see it.
6:46--I am excited about the Maryland-Houston game Vasquez and the NCAA leading scorer Coleman although not excited about Vasquez in HD, yikes we might have to switch over to low-def for that one. I also see this diary ending after these first games. I am struggling.
6:50--Just saw Eddie Sutton in old Okie St. footage. I won't make the Simmons "Shooter from Hoosiers" joke here but something need to happen to get me excited. The crowd is starting to fill in also. Thank goodness
6:52--Just realized we are being announced to by Ian Eagle. He loves Peacock as well who is flying around the court right now (but that's a flightless bird--HAHA--ornighology jokes--I promise there will only be 11 more)
6:54---Got an Eagle and Peacock going at me right now. Keep trying to make a joke that isn't awful. Not working. I'd rather make Ian Eagle III jokes about Lou Gosset Jr. Hence the blog picture.
6:58--Page just gets a break away lay up. He should have thrown that down! If only he were 3 feet taller.
6:59--Page is listed at 5'9. Yea, in his bra! No thanks fellas. He's 5'6 at the most
7:01--We switch over to Family Guy because the game is on commercial. It's a good one. This was a worthless update at 7:01.
7:02--Duke up 18 on Arkansas Pine Bluff. Come on Golden Lions--I need you to make hisotry
7:03--Lucian loves the Not in His Favors joke about Derek Favors. It's effecting his game, not playing great.
7:04--Travis Ford looks like he has lost weight. Finally. He was starting to go Jeff Sheppard Cameron Mills on us. Former UK white guys LOVE the buffet table. Listen up Scott Padgett. You're not exactly in game shape yourself. Lucian adds in Rex Chapman, that's sad he was always so fun
7:06--Okie St is holding for the last shot of the half. GIVE IT TO PAGE
7:07--Obie Minilo his a shot at the buzzer to give Okie St. a 5 point half time lead. Then we get a shot of the band where a guy playing the trumpet is at least 50. IM FIFTY!! I hope its an alumni band or that is getting creepy. Somebody call Chris Hansen.
7:08--Finished off my Red Bull. Now I'm not gonna be awake I just won't be able to go to sleep. So ya know, looking forward to that.
7:10--Lucian is upset about me passing gas on his chair. He's the one that wanted to go to Victor's sandwiches. He's lucky I took a shower this weekend. I tell him he can Wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first. You can never go wrong with Grumpier Old Men. That is a scientific fact.
