The brackets are out, and as expected, the Cats earned the number one seed in the East. They'll play East Tennessee State in the first round, and most likely either Texas or Wake Forest in the second round. West Virginia is the #2 seed in our bracket.Kansas, Duke and Syracuse are the other three #1 seeds. In my opinion, Duke has the easiest path to the Final Four, while either Kentucky or Kansas has the toughest, despite them being the higher #1 seeds overall.
We'll have lots more to talk about this all week leading right up to the official beginning of March Madness on Thursday.

Will someone please give some reasons supporting the opinion that UK has the hardest or one of the hardest roads to the Final Four? I just dont see it so i want to know what everyone else is seeing because i have seen some ppl on facebook and other places complaining about our draw but i think we have a very favorable road and possibly the easiest of the four.
ReplyDeleteNo team really strikes fear in me in our bracket. Texas or Wake? meh... Wisconsin or Temple? Possible upset but when you get to the 4 and 5 seeds this is prolly the weakest group (the other 4s are Purdue, Vandy, and Maryland and the other 5s are Mich St., Texas A&M, and Butler)West Virginia is really tough but every one of the 1 and 2 seeds are capable of winning the title so tough matchups from the elite 8 on in are expected and shouldnt even be factored into how tough the bracket is in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteGomez here...
ReplyDeleteWest Virginia was in the talks for a #1 seed and many thought they should have gotten one, and they're our number #2 seed. Meanwhile, teams like Texas, Wake Forest, New Mexico and Cornell are all better than what they're given credit for. I'm not saying they have the toughest road to the final four, but its certainly not the easiest.
Remember, Texas at one time was 17-0 and ranked #1 in the country. They hit a tough stretch in the Big 12, for sure, but they're still very talented. If their shots are falling, they could give us trouble in the second round.
I didn't even mention Temple or Wisconsin... two very (VERY) good teams.
ReplyDeleteI think Duke has the weakest path, by far, which is a joke. How does Duke have the weakest path over Kansas or Kentucky?
ReplyDeleteOhio State and even Kansas State were in the running for a one seed too but when K State lost to Kansas that thought ended. I see what you mean about us having a tough road but i guess i just can't wrap my mind around one road being tougher than the other when i look at all four brackets and see at least six teams with a ligitimate chance of beating their one seed.
ReplyDeleteI would rather see Temple or Wisconsin than Mich. St. or Maryland or even Purdue who fell to a four with that unexpectedly awful loss to Minnesota. I know Texas has talent but with Balbay out they can't find anybody to step up and run the point so i think our defense would eat them alive and Pat would shut Damion James down and send them packing. If the season would have lasted another week or so Texas would have played their way to the NIT.
I know it sucks to have to play West Virginia but i really think we match up great with them and i think a team like Ohio State with all their 3 point shooters would give us more problems than a team that runs its offense through two guys (Butler and Ebanks). Every road to the title is tough and i may just have my blue tinted glasses on and might be trying to be overly optimistic but im pretty happy with the lot that we have drawn and am ready for the March to title number eight! GO BIG BLUE!!!
