Gomez here...
It's Friday! WoOt! WOot! Let's get an early start to the weekend with some random notes and stuff...
:: Vanderbilt's AJ Ogilvy has declared for the draft, leaving the SEC's most overrated coach without the SEC's most overrated player. We can only hope this knocks the Dores off their high horse a little bit. Hey, it's our horse anyway. Oh, and we're not sure if Oglivy signed with an agent, and honestly, we don't care.
:: However, we do know that DeMarcus did sign with an agent, so he's 100% gone. There was a consensus among the media and program insiders that if just one of these kids were to come back to Kentucky, they would all come back to Kentucky. If one were to leave, they would all leave. With that in mind, I think this can officially put to rest any thoughts that the Kentucky freshmen could decide to pull their names out of the draft, and return for another NCAA run. It ain't happening, folks. Accept it, if you haven't already.
:: So, not surprisingly, Coach Cal is recruiting hard this week, particularly Leslie and Lamb. I know it sucks to lose people like Wall and Cousins so quickly, but man, its pretty dang exciting to think we'll get to watch Coach Cal reload each spring with another crop of kids that are the "best of the best." Chin up, folks. The future is still bright and as Austin Martin pointed out earlier in the week, the sky isn't falling.
:: Speaking of the "best of the best", the Rivers kid finally did what we've expected for a long time and bailed on Billy Donovan and his sinking Florida Gator program. Man, those back-to-back UF titles seem like a very long time ago, don't they? Anyway, look for Rivers to open up his recruitment and entertain offers from the biggest and best programs.
:: Billy Clyde is a candidate at Oregon? Oh wait a second... that was supposed to be a definitive statement and not a question: Billy Clyde IS a candidate at Oregon. (insert inappropriate joke here) Read more on this odd development.
:: I'm probably forgetting something, because I always remember what else I was going to say right after I click that "post" button, so just consider this a pause. We'll have more later.
Stay tuned.
