Well, I'll be honest, I wasn't too worried about the Derby this past weekend. Of course, I never am. I watched it, like I always do, but I didn't go to a derby party nor did I place a bet at Bluegrass Downs in Paducah. I just watched it, then forgot it about in less than the two minutes it took to see who won. I quickly went back to the computer to see if anything had leaked on the Jones recruitment. (See I have my priorities well in check)
That's just me, I get why so many people love it and it's by far the single most defining thing about our state. but it's not in my book. Heck, it's not even third or fourth in my book; yet, I still find some intrigue to the spectacle of it all and have considered going, my wife is from Louisville after all.
That being said, I ran across this story on Fan House that gives people a little insight to what life at the Derby is like and just how fun it is. It's a couple of days late, but it sounds like he and his crew may have needed those days to get their wits back.
