Weekend News and Notes...

The weekend is finally here, and we're excited about that. I went to see Iron Man 2 last night, and it was a fun movie and a nice start to the summer blockbusters. If you liked the first one, you'll most likely enjoy this one, as well. But anyway, you're not here to talk about movies, you're here to know what's going on in Big Blue Nation, so I'll try to fill ya in with what we know.

Ending weeks of speculation, it does appear that both Eric Bledsoe and Daniel Orton are going to stay in the NBA draft. That's really not a big surprise to anyone that's been close to the situation, so where they'll actually be drafted remains the bigger question. Some mock drafts have them going late first round or early second round, while others have them going in the lottery or mid first round. These situations are often fluid, and mock drafts are hardly reliable, so we'll just have to wait and see where our boys end up. We certainly wish them the best.

The Terrence Jones situation is still up in the air. While he still remains committed to Washington, he also says he's mainly undecided which is a pretty funny thing when you think about it. I mean, how can you be both committed and undecided? Well, anyway, expect this situation to drag out for a while longer, and because of that, Cal and company will continue to beat the bushes for a big man or two. While Marcus Thorton is no longer an option (see post below), Evan Daniels has reported that Cal and company are recruiting West Virginia big man Remi Debo, who is originally from the Ivory Coast. Catspause.com is reporting that UK hasn't yet offered the young man a scholarship, but Debo's coach has said he'll accept when and if an offer is made. We'll keep ya posted.

Meanwhile, Kyle Cain, a 6'8" power forward, has requested a release from his letter of intent to Rhode Island. Not surprisingly, Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports is reporting that UK is showing some interest. Apparently, Cain played AAU ball with Orton, so there's at least a minimal connection with Kentucky. According to ESPN, "Cain is an exceptional athlete with long arms, a cut frame, speed, quickness, the ability to play high above the rim, and a quick second leap. He's tremendously effective when getting out in transition and being around the rim on both ends of the floor." Sounds like a good fit, right? Again, we'll try to keep ya posted on this.

Well, that's all for now. We'll try to have another update later.
