Five Quick Questions for Mr. Leach...

When this website first launched back in the summer, Tom Leach, the Voice of the Wildcats, was one of the first to offer his support to the BBNR team and our new efforts to bring more news and views about UK sports to the Bluegrass State. Now, Mr. Leach has taken some time out of his busy schedule to get in the BBNR hot seat and answer five quick questions...

Q: How much different is it doing call-in and talk shows with Coach Cal than it was with Tubby or Clyde?

Tom Leach: Billy was so focused on the games that you couldn't really get him to talk much about anything else but Cal is more like Tubby in that you can get him to discuss things like practice approaches, national college basketball topics, etc as well as the Xs and Os of the game. Cal's easy to talk to and so far, I've found you can ask him pretty much anything you want.

Q: Are you having more fun this season calling games than you have in the past?

Tom Leach:
It's always more fun when the team is winning and the games are exciting. Fans love to see the Cats blow people out, but as a broadcaster, you love the close ones.

Q: Any shot at John Wall staying for his sophomore season? (hahahaha)

Tom Leach: Wouldn't hold my breath on that one. I will say he seems to be enjoying the ride and staying in the moment at college and not just marking time till an NBA career starts.

Q: What needs to happen for Kentucky to win the SEC?

Tom Leach: If there's one key, it's take care of business on the road. I always figure for any Kentucky team, if you win your home games and split the eight league road games, you'll have a great chance to get at least a share of the division title so that's the minimum but I think this team will do better than that.

Q: Is the Louisville game the biggest on our schedule? Bigger than UConn or UNC?

Tom Leach: For the fans, I think the Louisville game is the biggest, yes. There was a time when Indiana was the biggest rival and conference schools have rotated in and out of that role but I think Louisville has locked in on that biggest rival title.

  2. I am sure Tom Leach is enjoying every minute of this season. Can you imagine how much more fun this is for him than the Billy Gillispie error?
