Tuesday is here... woot woot

Gomez here...

About the only thing Tuesday has going for it is that its not Monday. Its still a long way to the weekend, but the light at the end of the tunnel is slightly brighter this morning. With that cheery thought, let's jump into this morning discussion...

Well, the whole world knows that Texas got beat last night, and if you'll recall, I predicted that a long time ago. I also predicted Purdue would get beat at Wisconsin. I did, however, miss my predictions on UK and Kansas. But hey, I'm batting .500, and I haven't taken any performance enhancing drugs, so that's not too shabby.

Anyway, the state of Kentucky is abuzz this morning with the hopes of returning to the number 1 ranking next Monday. All we have to do is take care of Arkansas at home on Saturday, and the top spot will most certainly be ours. You'll have some that will downplay the significance of this ranking, but make no mistake about it, if it does happen, it will be another chapter in what is becoming one of the most miraculous turn-arounds in college sports. Just ask Bama football fans... after a period of irrelevance, its nice gaining that top spot again.

Well, since we're talking about rankings, have you noticed how much the voters love those Tar Heels? Maybe they've earned the benefit of the doubt, but after earning their sixth loss, you would have thought the Tar Heels would have finally fallen from the Top 25 in both polls. However, that wasn't the case yesterday. I have a hard time believing that they're still one of the top 25 teams in America, especially when you consider they've lost three of their last four games, are only 1-2 in the ACC, and they're just not playing good basketball at this point in the season. Is there a bias at work here? Yup, I think so.

Anyway, back to Kentucky. We might be about to take over the number one rankings for the first time in a few years, but what might happen after this season's quick return to the top remains a big question. We know for sure that Stevenson, Harris, and Krebs are gone after this season, and most likely will be joined by Patterson, Wall, and Cousins. What we still don't know, other than Stacey Poole, is who Cal will bring in to replace the departing Cats. Yesterday, Cal was in Dayton watching Brandon Knight play, and there seems to be some rumors that he's leaning more towards UK as of late. He would be a big time get for Cal and Co., and one we should all hope happens.

In other news, don't you just love this new chick hanging around here? She's only been here a few days, and she's already calling out her fellow BBNR teammates for our overly negative views. As you can tell, she's fitting in nicely.

Well that's all for now... check back later for all the UK news and views of the day.

  1. I think its nuts that North Carolina is still in the top 25 this week. Gay is the better word.
