Tonight is shaping up to be a big contest. First of all, you have the MSU fans acting like the morons that they are by calling DeMarcus Cousins' personal cell phone number just to trash talk before the game. This is clearly an attempt to get in his head in the hopes that he'll have an emotional reaction during the game. So far, DeMarcus is saying all the right things, and hopes to silence his critics on the floor by dominating the inside game tonight. Of course, that will be a tall task since the Bulldogs have one of the league's best big men in power forward Jarvis Varnado, who averages 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks per game. Cousins will be put to the test.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are playing for their post-season lives right now. In a season that started with pure optimism, State has not accomplished what many thought they would in the regular season. Don't forget, some of the media members (admittedly, the stupid ones) actually picked the Bulldogs to win the SEC this year, but as of right now, they're only 18-7 overall and 6-4 in the SEC. Still, they've lost those seven games by an average of only 5 points each, and could have won them all had a few things gone differently through the course of the games. Tonight, if the Bulldogs can pull one out, it would go a long way towards proving to the NCAA Selection Committee that they deserve to be in the big dance.
So I said all that to say this... expect a battle tonight, folks. The Hump will be rocking and this will be one of the few sell outs of the year for MSU. The Cats have to come focused and ready to play or this could be another South Carolina type game, which would result in our second loss of the season, right before going into maybe their toughest road game of the season, at Vanderbilt on Saturday night.
(more later...)
I'm not sure what's wrong w/Dodson and Miller's shot, they can't hit the broad side of a barn right now. We gotta get at least 11 or 12 pts. a game between them and were not getting it. Dodson looks like he could care less about being on the floor, and Miller is playn' hard, but his shot is way off. I think Wall is in a zone right now and he may go for 25 or 30, but we got to improve our half court offense, and create some turnovers to get some easy transition baskets. Our offense really hasn't clicked since the Arkansas game, but we have plenty of time before the tourney to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteScary to think what the score would be if Miss. St. was playing their leading scorer, we need to get the ball down to Cuz and Patt. on the inside, and if there's nothing there throw it out for an outside "J". We have the luxery of having a dominate inside game and some good shooters, we need to take advantage of it. Can Bledsoe please play a good first half for once......PLEASE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's wrong with our offense; but we gotta fix in the the coming weeks.
