Mid Day Links

On a slow news day thought I would continue to add to the chatter about the 2010 NBA/Kentucky Basketball Draft.

First, Flip Saunders thinks our man John Wall can revolutionize the Point Guard position. D.C. Sports Blog

Also, NBAdraft.net got a chance to view Daniel Orton and Hassan Whiteside workout out in San Fransisco. Some interesting thoughts on Daniel's draft stock are included, as they predict he will land somewhere in the middle of the first round.

There has been buzz recently that Favors and Ekpe Udoh's draft stocks are soaring. ESPN's Chad Ford has moved Favors up to #2 on his draft board, and Udoh is reportedly getting looks from the Nets at #3. Also, Patrick Patterson's strong showing at the NBA draft combine couldn't have come as a surprise to the Big Blue Nation. He displayed his all around game and character in Chicago, which resulted in some positive buzz for the polished big man from Huntington, West Virginia.

All of these big guys impressing could be bad news to Demarcus Cousins. Right or wrong, there is a perception around Cousins right now. He has been labeled as having character concerns, which could cause teams to cool on him. He is currently down to #7 in NBAdraft.net's latest mock. (Coincidentally to the Detroit Pistons, which is probably the best possible destination, as they could use a little bit of a return to the bad boy mentality that is a big part of their history.)

This time of year often brings a lot of volatility in mock draft's, and should almost always be taken with a grain of salt. Teams could be sandbagging Cousins in hopes of him falling in their laps. You really never know this time of year, but there does seem to be very little positive buzz around Big Cuz a month before the draft.

  1. No one has improved their draft stock more than Patterson over the last few weeks.
